Trip Description

Our tour starts in Calgary, AB on the edge of the Rocky Mountains where we gather and spend the first night. From there we head to the mountains and spend the next two days exploring the Banff resorts. From Banff we head further into the mountains to Golden, BC, the home of Canada’s newest resort, Kicking Horse. Kicking Horse resort is perfectly situated to easily explore hundreds of hectares of untouched powder bowls and chutes located in the adjacent backcountry. We ride lifts high into the alpine and then go into the backcountry. With a small amount of hiking, using only a fraction of the effort were we to climb from the valley bottom, we find ourselves on top of 1000ft couloirs, 3500ft powder runs, and untouched snow fields. We then have an amazing run, or maybe two, before traversing back to the resort to start it all over again. Our accommodation throughout the trip is chosen keeping comfort, location, and rest in mind.

On this tour we also spend 3 days backcountry skiing at Roger's Pass. Roger's pass is renowned worldwide as one of the backcountry ski destinations in the world. It is blessed with phenomenal amounts of snow, few visitors, and a huge amount of terrain for all skill levels and avalanche conditions. This is a unique opportunity to explore this region and see the magnificent scenery with a certified guide.

All guests going into the backcountry are required to wear an avalanche transceiver as well as carry a small backpack containing an avalanche probe and small rescue shovel. If guests are not familiar with backcountry safety equipment Canadian Powder Adventures guides will take sufficient time to make guests comfortable before proceeding into the backcountry. Guests are also encouraged to wear an ABS avalanche safety backpack of which we are a dealer. Backcountry safety equipment is available for rent from Canadian Powder Skiing Adventures.

Our highly trained guides have extensive first aid and avalanche certifications as well as an extensive knowledge of the guiding area. To get the most out of the experience guests will require backcountry travel equipment. For skiers this would be an alpine touring set-up with skins, for snowboarders; snowshoes and collapsible poles or a split board are the best option. You do not need any ski touring experience you just have to be a proficient skier/ boarder. Contact Powder Adventures for more information.

The itinerary is subject to slight changes due to weather and backcountry conditions.
